Mandala

I'd like to say I tried hard to resist. I didn't.

Like lots of others, I was swept away on the mandala journey after seeing several on Chrissie's blog. When she launched her Mand-A-Long, I had to give it a go.

It was trickier than expected and I learned a few new techniques along the way.

The pattern is by Wink in Simply Crochet, issue 5. All the yarn is King Cole Bamboo Cotton from my stash. I'm not too sure about the grey but was determined not to buy more yarn for this project. Maybe I'll weaken for the next one ;) For now though, I need to get back to my yoga mat bag.

As you can see it's grown quite a bit. I have one more block of colour to do after the blue and then the handle. This is the first time I've tried it on for size since the last photo and it does tend to sag. I'm wondering whether to make it longer so that it fits over the top and put some kind of fastening on. Hmm, decisions, decisions - not my strong point! x

  2. Love the mandala! Same pattern, yet completely different look to mine - how can these little doilies be so intriguing?! Resistance is futile - so glad you joined in! Now on to that yoga bag...it is looking awesome, could you keep going and fashion a drawstring closer to solve the sagging issue? Hmmm...Chrissie x

  3. Lovely mandala, I like the way the grey makes the other colours pop!

  4. Your mandala is very pretty! Glad that you enjoyed making it. If your yoga mat is unrolled a little to give a tighter fit to the carrier would that mean that the carrier sagged less? Just wondered! It looks lovely though! xx

  5. I love this crocheted mandala! I used to do airline tickets for a woman who had written a book about mandalas. Her name is Suzanne Fincher and if you look at creatingmandalas.com you can even print some mandalas to color! I would not have thought of this if not for this post by you. Thank you!

  7. I love that you used gray in your mandala. It is amazing to me how the colors we choose change the look completely.

  8. Love your Mandalas - especially the grey! Some of these patterns are tricky, aren't they? I have tried to do my own pattern but get in a muddle as I don't know how much to increase by each time! My offerings are linked below - one of them has very curly edges (hence the increasing thing!) Jane x
