Photo Scavenger Hunt: November 2015

Well, it's Scavenger Hunt time again and I just about managed it. Not that it was a particularly tough one, just that I've struggled with the lurgy the last couple of weeks. Thanks as always to Greenthumb for organising it. Here's my entry.

A stranger: A single stranger walking by this water feature outside Sheffield railway station.

Looking down: A cuddly husky watching the shoppers going by at the Christmas market in Manchester.

Pop culture: Old records made into coasters. For sale on the Christmas market in Manchester.

The weather: Rain and hail as sunlight hits the top of the postbox. Typical English weather then.

Big: An enormous poppy in Manchester Victoria railway station.

Sign: It feels like this one should be in the December Hunt but I did see it in November: Father Christmas greeting visitors to the market.

Bottle: I couldn't resist this bottle purely because of the name. Sadly, the drink inside it was less exciting than the ingredients sounded. It had a very weird, almost cheesy, aftertaste!

Out & about: Autumnal colour in Sheffield.

Hat: A woolly hat made of fondant on one of the amazing cakes on display at the Cake & Bake Show, Manchester.

Hole: Lots of holes in this metal fence.

One: A single, perfect fly agaric toadstool. 'A fairy should be sat on top of that' commented someone I showed the photo to.

Whatever you want: Not the best photo but definitely one of the most exciting events this month. A cormorant on our local lake! I thought this was a once in a lifetime event then, on Saturday, lo and behold there were two! Probably sheltering from all the rain and gales that have been sweeping across for days and days.

If you've been inspired, head over to the Scavenger Hunt site to see the other entries and to see the list for December.

I've been very absent from the blogging world this month. Too much to do and a bout of the lurgy. I'm now starting to see the light at the end of the germ-filled tunnel so, hopefully, I'll be back soon. Have a wonderful week everyone. x

  2. Terrific selection! I especially love the fondant hat ~ how clever of the decorator, and you the photographer for spotting it :) You really have an eye for photography ~ the stranger shows the waterfall in great perspective ~ the colourful red touches throughout the post are so cheerful, even the red postbox getting showered with rain is cheery. A perfect agaric toadstool, indeed!

  5. Beautiful photos! You really have a good eye. I especially like the stranger and the water feature, and the weather on the postbox, and the mushroom. Oh, and how could I forget Wild Hedgehog! Too bad it was such a disappointment, but at least the bottle is attractive.

  7. Hi Julie, sorry to hear your not feeling well. I so enjoyed seeing all your photos. The one toadstool is pretty amazing. I've never seen a real toadstool like that. I hope you recover soon. My best to you, Pat

  11. I love the photo of the Toadstool. Stunningly beautiful. That water wall looks really effective too. Hail? Brrrr.... It's Summer here in Tasmania now. The Wild Hedgehog sounded great to me too but I can't imagine a drink that leaves a cheesy taste. Sounds weird

  12. Great photos and interpretations. The drink has an unusual name but the ingredients sound ok, how strage about the actual taste though. Love the cormorant and the toadstool also the hat on the cake:)

  13. I hope you've completely recovered now - there's a lot of nasties about to make one feel ill. Sorry I'm late in commenting and didn't participate in the hunt this month and probably won't get to do any photography for December either. It depends on the weather and how busy I get with other activities. I felt right at home seeing some photos of Sheffield and the Manchester ones are good too! My favourites are the ones of the toadstool and the cormorant.

  14. Hi Julie! I've slowly been making the rounds. No lurgy for me, just so much to do! Your stranger photo was magnificent, but then, I really liked all your shots. I enjoyed the big poppy. Remembrance poppies are a big deal in Canada, but are not really part of American culture, so I really miss them. I don't miss that English weather though; it was featured in a number of hunts this month. Yuck ~ we've had it here in Colorado too. Isn't the fly agaric poisonous? Beautiful shot, btw! Have a happy run up to Christmas. I hope you are feeling much better.

  15. Really enjoyed your photos! The mushroom is just perfect, if rather deadly... Recently went on a mushroom foraging course and found a few like this, but not in such good shape. I'd have probably bought something called Wild Hedgehog too, disappointing it had a cheesy aftertaste. Not pleasant! The rain on the post box is a great shot and like the giant poppy x
