Bank holiday weekend

This Bank Holiday weekend, I've been...

Admiring...all the fruit on my gooseberry bush! It's only 2 years old and the first time I've had a proper crop. So, I've also been excitedly looking through recipes: gooseberry and elderflower ice cream is a strong contender at the moment. Yum!

Planting...up my troughs with argyranthemum (white daisies) and petunias.

Dreaming...of the long hot, summer to come!

Searching...around our local lake to find photos for the Scavenger Hunt (it's a tough one this month).

Enjoying...the madness that is Eurovision. This year we decided to really get in the swing so I downloaded the app to sing along, and we had nachos and tequila beer.

Baking...rhubarb and custard tart.

Auditioning...fabrics for my latest journal quilt. I'm now at the cutting out stage.

Smelling...the scent of wild garlic on a walk in the woods this afternoon.

Discovering...this 14-spot ladybird.

So how has your weekend been? As you can see, we had a stay-at-home weekend as we have a few busy ones to come. My pack for the 30 days wild challenge arrived too so I've been thinking up more quick and easy ideas for spending time with nature. Only a week to go!

Enjoy the rest of your week. x

  1. Congratulations on the Gooseberry crop Julie, I hope they go into something nice. I look forward to reading what you made with them. I spent my bank holiday weekend walking up Pendle Hill and building a Bug Hotel in my backgarden. It would be nice to get some 14-sport ladybirds up this neck of the woods, I'll have to keep my eyes open.

  2. Sounds like a good weekend :) Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's a tough scavenger hunt this time... I've been scavenging this weekend and I think I have just have two tricky ones to find now!
I've also been thinking about 30 days wild and have some posts coming up this week with some ideas!

  3. Ohhh gooseberries - when I was a kid we had a friend that had a gooseberry plant and every year we'd make a gooseberry pie - delicious. Love that seagull on the rock!!

  4. A great weekend! the rhubarb tart looks delicious!!!! xx

  5. get to SING ALONG with that Eurovison thing? I would love to do that! And if you had enough of that beer you might be able to stand having me around! HA!
Lovely flowers and that 14 spot ladybird, I would be so tickled to photograph that!

  6. So recipe for the tart? I'm looking for something new to try. We had a 5 day weekend due to unused snow days. Did lots of yard work and house hold chores. Went to the parade and read yesterday. As for looking forward to summer, the weather is supposed to be in the 80's this week and humid with thunderstorms on and off.

  7. Looks like a lovely time, sun been out here to makes such a difference, so nice to potter and go for walks. Well done spotting the ladybird as they are tiny. Just need some warm evenings now so we can sit out after tea...
    Amanda xx
