Day 15-18: Birds, baskets and waterfalls

It's been a busy week but I've managed to fit some 30 Days Wild in each day, even if only for a few moments.

Day 15: Feed the birds

I've been struggling to find ideas this week with the limited time I've had. So, Monday evening I mowed the lawn and decided to put out the bird feeders I bought a couple of weeks ago. I've put out a shallow bowl of water too.

It's behind you!

There was a moment of excitement when a sparrow landed right near the fat ball. However, it and all the other birds have resolutely ignored both feeders all week. I know it's probably the wrong time to be putting them out.

Why would you eat seeds and a fat ball when you can have lots of juicy bugs in the trees...

...and worms in the ground. There are 22 starlings on the lawn: I think it might be a record. Look at my growing polka dots too!

Day 16: Gaze at the clouds

A few brief moments of cloud watching in the morning before I left for work.

Day 17: Grow your own fruit

It rained most of the day and the evening was dark and grey. I had little enthusiasm for going outside but we needed milk. A tired saunter to our local Aldi and I noticed they were selling hanging baskets of strawberries. My random act for Day 17 was therefore buying said hanging basket and carrying it back from Aldi! We are guaranteed at least 2 strawberries as there are already two growing. Well, unless the slugs manage to get up there. I wouldn't put it past them - they breed them tough round here!

Day 18: Visit a waterfall

It's a tough life but I had to go up to the Lake District with work today. With 30 Days in mind, I did a bit of research and found out that the lower Rydal waterfall was nearby. I walked along the beck for a while.

The noise of the water over the rocks was really loud.

And then, there was the waterfall. The small building is a viewing house which was constructed in 1668.

I'm saving the rest of the photos from today for another time when I've managed to sort through them. x
